ORLANDO, FL - The RIT softball team (4-2) swept a pair of games over Widener on Monday afternoon at the Rebel Spring Games. The Tigers won the opening game, 6-4 and completed the sweep with a 3-1 win.
In the opener, RIT scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to erase a 2-0 deficit.
MIchelle Tabisz (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch) was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs batted in.
Jen Hayden (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) was also 2-for-3.
Tori Nadow (Charlton, MA/Shepherd Hill) walked twice to go along with a hit and run batted in.
Emily Courtney (Berlin, CT/Kingswood-Oxford) drove in a pair of runs, while
Brittney Lavoie (Plattsburgh, NY/Ticonderoga) also record an RBI.
Carlissa Cole (Alden, NY/Alden) earned her second win of the season, allowing two earned runs, while striking out five batters in the complete game effort.
The Tigers scored all three of their runs in the top of the first inning of game two, a 3-1 win. Tabisz drove in a pair of runs with a double, plating Hayden and
Emily McPherson (Pompey, NY/Pompey). Cole singled in Tabisz with the third run.
Shannon McCormick (Auburn, NY/Auburn) was 2-for-4 for RIT.
On the mound,
Brittany Kemp (Dansville, NY/Wayland-Cohocton) picked up her second victory, allowing just the one run, while striking out four batters in seven innings.
RIT is off Tuesday, but return to action on Thursday as they play Clarke College at 1 p.m. and Beloit at 3 p.m.
