UTICA, NY -- The RIT men's swimming and diving team defeated Utica College 194-36 in Empire 8 swimming action on Saturday afternoon. The win improves RIT to 5-2 on the season.
RIT featured nine different winners in individual events led by
Kevin Christiansen (Penfield, NY/Penfield) and
Evan Wendt (Norwich, NY/Norwich High School) who each won two events on the day.
Wendt won both the one-meter (180.70) and three-meter (243.85) diving events, while Christiansen won the 200-yard IM (2:12.39) and the 100-yard freestyle (49.60).
Ken Van Dalsum (Nashua, NH/Bishop Guertin High School) won the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:17.80),
Steve Rois (Amherst, NY/Amherst High School) won the 200-yard freestyle (1:51.36) and Brian Minicucci won the 50-yard freestyle (23.23).
Frank Zelinger (Schwenksville, PA/The Hill School) won the 200-yard butterfly (2:08.05),
Eric Madar (Suffern, NY/Suffern) won the 200-yard backstroke (2:12.17), A.J. Broderick won the 500-yard freestyle (5:07.16) and
Joe Meiman (Milford, NH/Milford) won the 200-yard breaststroke (2:27.74.
RIT will host SUNY Geneseo and SUNY New Paltz next Saturday, January 16 at 1 pm at Judson Pool.
