No. 4 women's hockey drops second straight to No. 3 SUNY Plattsburgh
PLATTSBURGH, NY - The No. 4 RIT women's hockey team (10-4-3, 5-3-2 ECAC West) lost its second straight contest, falling to No. 3 SUNY Plattsburgh, (11-1-1, 9-0-1 ECAC West) 5-2 at Stafford Ice Arena on Saturday afternoon.

PLATTSBURGH, NY -
The No. 4 RIT women's hockey team (10-4-3, 5-3-2 ECAC West) lost its second straight contest, falling to No. 3 SUNY Plattsburgh, (11-1-1, 9-0-1 ECAC West) 5-2 at Stafford Ice Arena on Saturday afternoon.

RIT fell behind 3-0, despite holding a big advantage in shots over the first 30 minutes.  Katie Stack (Batavia, NY/Rochester Edge) got RIT on the board with her 18th goal of the season with just six seconds left in the second period.

Megan Kobar (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Chaos) cut Plattsburgh's lead to 3-2 with a power-play goal with 4:50 remaining.  Laurie Bowler scored her third goal of the game with 2:41 left, while Brittany Meade iced the contest with an empty net goal in the final minute.

For the second straight game, RIT's starting goaltender was pulled.  Carley King (Tinley Park, IL/Chicago Young Americans) stopped five shots and allowed two goals over the first 28 minutes before being replaced by Amy Torgerson (Owatonna, MN/Gilmour Academy).  Torgerson stopped 15 shots and picked up the loss.

Bowler recorded the hat-trick for Plattsburgh.  Megan DiJulio and Meade also scored for the Cardinals.  Mandy Mackrell stopped 30 shots to earn the win.

RIT out-shot Plattsburgh, 32-25.  Both teams were 1-for-8 on the power-play.

It is the first time that he Tigers have never been swept in a weekend series since joining the ECAC West conference in 2007, and first time since Feb. 11-13, 2005, against Manhattanville.  RIT is now 2-8-0 all-time against the Cardinals.

RIT is back in action on Saturday, as they host Utica at 2 p.m.  Come out and support the Tigers, as they "Make the Rink Pink".  RIT will be wearing special pink uniforms.
