ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT women's soccer team won their third straight game, shutting out SUNY Oswego 3-0 in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon. The shut out is the third straight for the Tigers who have not allowed a goal in the last 336:39.
RIT out shot the Lakers 12-6 and took six corner kicks to Oswego's one. The Tigers committed 10 fouls to just two for the Lakers.
Kristen Denninger (Rochester, NY/Nazareth Academy) gave RIT a 1-0 lead with her goal in the ninth minute.
Kendra Shelters (Lyons, NY/Lyons) played a ball to
Allyson Pisher (Holley, NY/Holley) from the flank. Pisher played a through-ball to a streaking Denninger who one-timed a low shot into the right corner.
Ashley Pezze (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) made it 2-0 with her goal in the 17th minute. She ripped a shot from just outside the 18-yard box that found the top corner of the goal, for her second tally of the season.
Kasey Dobrodziej (Utica, NY/Thomas R. Proctor) gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead in the 65th minute off a corner kick.
Chelsea Shoemaker (Rochester, NY/Aquinas) played a nice in-swinger that Pezze headed to Dorbrodziej who one-timed it in for the Tigers third goal.
RIT's defense was stellar allowing just two shots to make it through on net.
Ashley Valenti (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) picked up her third win of the season, making two saves.
Alyssa Henkel (Newark, NY/Newark) played the final 20 minutes to secure a part of the shut out victory.
RIT will host Empire 8 foe, Hartwick College on Saturday, October 3 at 2:30 pm on RIT Field.
