GRAND ISLAND, NY -- The RIT women's cross country team finished sixth out of 10 teams at the 2009 University of Buffalo Stampede Invitational at Beaver Island Park on an exceptional Saturday afternoon. RIT finished with a team score of 217 points, Cornell University, a Division I program, won the team title with 20 points.
Joelle Scarnati (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) was RIT's top finisher, placing 56th overall with a time of 20:57.
Kate Dubuisson (Winston Salem, NC/Mount Tabor) was RIT's next best finisher, placing 63rd in 21:23.
Anna Bower (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon) placed 71st overall in a time of 21:45.
Amanda Fontaine (Burrillville, RI/Mt. St. Charles) was 12 seconds back of Bower in 75th place, while
Julie Kerchner (Dallastown, PA/Dallastown) rounded out RIT's top five, placing 81st overall in 22:12.
RIT returns to action on Saturday, September 26 when they compete at the Highlander Invitational, hosted by Houghton College. The men's race gets underway at 10:30 a.m.
