ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT women's tennis team (3-2, 3-1 Empire 8) rolled to a 9-0 shutout win over Utica College (0-2, 0-2 Empire 8) on Saturday afternoon at RIT Tennis Courts. RIT lost just three points all afternoon in securing its second straight win.
Junior
Amanda Berg (Mendham, NJ/Mendham) won at first singles, 6-0, 6-0, and paired with
Alexis Stanley (Vestal, NY/Vestal) to earn an 8-1 win at first doubles.
Berg has never lost a singles match in Empire 8 play. She is 13-0 all time in Empire 8 singles play.
Junior
Michele Caporali (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott) secured a 6-1, 6-1 win at second singles, while
Lindsey Gibson (Glastonbury, CT/Mercy),
Marie Rekevant (Pittsford, NY/East Rochester), and
Julie Burkett (McDonald, PA/West Allegheny) recorded shuout victories at third, fourth, and fifth singles, respectively.
Samantha Noe (Barre, MA/Quabbin Regional) earned a default win at sixth singles.
The second doubles team of Caporali and Gibson enjoyed an 8-0 win.
RIT is right back in action on Sunday, with a non-conference match at SUNY Brockport. The match gets underway at 1 p.m.
