Men's soccer opens 2009 season with shutout win at Oswego

OSWEGO, NY -- The RIT men's soccer team began the 2009 campaign with a 1-0 victory at SUNY Oswego on Tuesday afternoon. It is the second straight season that the Tigers won their opening contest.
RIT out-shot Oswego 12-8 on the afternoon and won the corner kick battle 7-3. The Lakers commited 15 fouls to RIT's 11.
The Tigers scored the lone goal of the contest in the 23rd minute.
Todd Gaulocher (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) scored his first goal of the season on assists from
Bret Dietz (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt) and
Jeff Diaz (Brentwood, NY/Brentwood).
Freshman goaltender
Bora Turgut (Rochester, NY/Aquinas) picked up his first collegiate win, making three saves to earn the shutout win.
RIT is back in action on Saturday, when they face Hobart College in the Doug May Classic hosted by Nazareth College. Kick-off is at 11 a.m.
