Smith garners Empire 8 Baseball Player of the Week honor

ROCHESTER, NY - Sophomore infielder
Justin Smith (Livonia, NY/Livonia) of the RIT baseball team, was named the Empire 8 Baseball Player of the Week on Monday for the week ending May 3, 2009. It is Smith's first weekly honor this season.
Smith hit .692 (9-for-13) with eight runs scored, eight RBI, five stolen bases and three triples in a 3-0 week for the Tigers. He was 4-for-4 with a career-best five RBI and three runs scored in a 13-0 win over Keuka on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Smith was 5-for-9 with five runs scored, four stolen bases and two triples in a doubleheader sweep of Medaille. Smith now has 23 stolen bases, tied for the most in one season at RIT.
The Tigers (18-20) complete their season on Saturday, as they travel to SUNY Oswego to play the Lakers in a doubleheader at 1 p.m.
