CANTON, NY - The RIT women's outdoor track and field team finished fifth out of nine teams at the 2009 NYSCTC Championships hosted by St. Lawrence University on Saturday. RIT finished with 78 points.
The team of
Samantha Mitchell (Southlake, TX/Carroll),
Caitlyn Peterson,
Abby Arday (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) and
Allison Dupra (Victor, NY/Victor) won the 4 x 100-meter relay in 49.36 seconds.
Mitchell was second in the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.42 seconds, just shy of a school mark. She was also second in the 200-meters in 26.76 seconds.
Arday,
Nicole Varble (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta),
Jillian Putney (Dansville, NY/Dansville) and
Katherine Springate (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville North) were second in the 4 x 400-meter relay in 4:07.97.
Varble was fifth in the 800-meters in 2:21.49.
Junior
Jamie Morey (LeRoy, NY/Notre Dame) was fifth in the hammer throw with a distance of 45.11 meters. Teammate
Lindsey Clark (Rochester, NY/Nazareth Academy) was third in the discus with a toss of 33.53 meters.
Putney was third in the 100-meter hurdles and fifth the 400-meter hurdles.
Senior
Joanna Dobeck (Rochester, NY/Mercy) was fourth in the heptahlon with 3,422 points.
RIT is back in action on Thursday at the Raider Last Chance meet hosted by Roberts Wesleyan.
