Men's tennis rolls in shutout win over St. John Fisher

ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT men's tennis team (4-3, 2-2 Empire 8) blanked the St. John Fisher College Cardinals (4-10, 2-3 Empire 8) 9-0 in Empire 8 action at the Gordon Field House on Tuesday afternoon.

The Tigers were unstoppable on Tuesday, only dropping one set on the day.  Impressive play from Jose Guzman (Guatemala/Collegio Valle Verde) (Guatemala), John Traver (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) (Clifton Park, NY), and Clayton Tontarski (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) (Rochester, NY), who dropped a total of two games, sparked the team.

Freshman Max Bogue (Colchester, VT/Colchester) (Colchester, VT) had to battle Karl Schiefer to claim victory at fourth singles.  Schiefer took the first set, 5-7, but Bogue fought back, winning the second set 6-3, and the deciding third set by a score of 10-8.

The doubles teams of Traver/Adam Wolf (South Euclid, Ohio/Brush) (South Euclid, OH), and John Albers (Grands Rapids, MI/Forest Hills) (Grand Rapids, MI)/Larry Hall (Fairport, NY/Fairport) (Fairport, NY) both picked up their fourth wins of the season.

The Tigers are back in action on Friday, when they host Utica College in an Empire 8 matchup.  Play starts at 4 p.m.
