Baseball beats Hilbert

15 runs is seaon-high for Tigers

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT baseball team defeated Hilbert College 15-5 in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon. The 15 runs scored by RIT was a season-high and helped improv RIT's record to 5-12 on the season.

RIT led 7-0 after three innings, scoring three runs in the second and four in the third. Justin Smith (Livonia, NY/Livonia) (Livonia, NY) had two RBI in the second as RIT jumped out to a 3-0 lead.

The Tigers made it 7-0 with four in the third. Ed Hughes (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) had an RBI single and Ben Robertson (Mecklenburg, NY/Trumansburg) drove in a pair of runs in the inning.

The Hawks put up four runs in the top of the fourth inning off of RIT starter Jeff Bibbens (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) (Weedsport, NY). He allowed three earned runs in the inning on a hit, two passed balls and two walks. Rory Camardello (Brighton, NY/Brighton) (Brighton, NY) came in with two outs, allowed a base hit to Parik Lagueras that scored two but got Frank Simmeth to line out to third to end the inning.

RIT came right back in the bottom of the fifth scoring four more runs. The TIgers added three runs in the sixth and one in the eighth to put the game away.

RIT pounded out a season-high 20 hits led by freshman Ben Robertson (Mecklenburg, NY/Trumansburg) (Mecklenburg, NY/Trumansburg) who went 3-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Geoff Dornes (Landsville, PA/Hempfield) (Landsville, PA/Hempfield) went 3-5 with three RBI and three runs scored. Jeremy Tosh (Woodbine, MD/Glenelg) (Woodbine, MD/Glenelg) went 2-4 with two RBI and a run scored.

Camardello picked up the win for the TIgers alloiwng no earned runs in 2 1/3 innings of work in relief.

RIT will face SUNY Oneonta on Saturday, April 4 at 1 pm in Oneonta, New York.
