The post-season honors keep rolling in for senior center Mark Carson (Voorheesville, NY/Voorheesville) of the RIT men's basketball team.  On Thursday, Carson became RIT's first All-American since Craig Jones and Aaron Morrison in 1997, as he was named a NABC (National Association of Basketball Coaches), d3hoops.com and Basketball Times third team All-American.  In addition, he was named to both the NABC and d3hoops.com East Region first teams.

Earlier this season, Carson earned All-Empire 8 first team honors and was the MVP of the Empire 8 Tournament.  He was also named a CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Third Team Academic All-American and was a first team All-Region selection.

Carson led the Tigers (19-9) to their first Empire 8 Championship and NCAA Tournament Appearance since 2000.  He  finished the season tied for the most rebounds (396) in one season at RIT, along with seventh most points (544). Carson recorded 25 double-doubles in 28 games this season and at least 10 boards in 27 games and at least nine in all 28 games.  Carson led the country with 14.1 boards per game this season.  His 61 percent field goal percentage is the third best in one season at RIT.

Carson finished his RIT career with 1,077 points, 17th most all-time at the institute.  His 822 rebounds are second most all-time at RIT.  He shot 59.8 percent from the field for his career, second best at RIT.  Carson also finishes his Tiger career with 106 blocks, sixth most in the program's storied history.

On Feb. 17, Carson became the 21st member of the RIT basketball program to surpass 1,000 career points against Nazareth. He tallied career-highs of 31 points and eight blocks to go along with 20 rebounds in that contest.

Carson was a d3hoops.com East Region first team selection in 2007-08.  This award is voted on by the Sports Information Directors in the East region.

The NABC awards are voted on by Division III coaches in the East region and the nation.
