ROCHESTER, NY - Junior Jeff Kaemmerlen (Fairport, NY/Fairport) of the RIT men's swimming and diving team was named the Empire 8 Swimmer of the Week on Monday for the week ending December 6, 2009.  It is Kaemmerlen's first Empire 8 weekly honor.

Kaemmerlen won three individual events, swam on a winning relay, and swam on two runner-up relays at the 2009 Don Richards Memorial Invitational hosted by RIT. He captured the 100-yard breaststroke in 59.13 seconds, breaking a 16-year-old school record. Kaemmerlen won the 100-yard freestyle in 47.67 seconds and the 50-yard freestyle in 21.24 seconds. His lead time of 21.16 seconds led the Tigers’ to a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:27.68. Kaemmerlen was also a part of the runner-up 200-yard medley relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay.

The Tigers conclude the 2009 calendar year with a home meet against Rochester on Saturday at 1 p.m.
