ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT men's swimming and diving team finished fourth out of six teams at the 2009 Don Richards Tournament held at the Judson Pool.  The Tigers finished with 658.5 points.  Alfred University finished first overall with 747 points.

On Friday, the 200-yard medley relay team of Kevin Christiansen (Penfield, NY/Penfield), Bryan Minicucci (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield), Ryan Marchant (Norwich, NY/Norwich High School), and Jeff Kaemmerlen (Fairport, NY/Fairport) finished second with a time of 1:39.09.  Kaemmerlen swam the anchor leg in a speedy 21.01 seconds.

Steve Rois (Amherst, NY/Amherst High School) was sixth in the 1,650-yard freestyle in a time of 17:56.35.  He was also fourth in the 200-freestyle with a time of 1:48.64. 

Diver Evan Wendt (Norwich, NY/Norwich High School) was second overall in the 1-meter diving event, with 408.75 points.  He was also second the 3-meter with a score of 388.65.

Kaemmerlen enjoyed a tremendous Saturday, winning the 100-yard freestyle in 47.67 seconds, 100-yard breaststroke in 59.13 seconds, while swimming the lead position on the 200-freestyle relay, teamming up Christiansen, Ryan Brannan (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena), and Marchant to win with a time of 1:27.68.  Kaemmerlen's lead time was 21.16 seconds.  His time of 59.13 in the breaststroke broke a 16-year old school record.  On Sunday, he won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.24.

Berus and Minicucci were fourth and fifth behind Kaemmerlen in the 100-breaststroke at 1:03.28 and 1:03.31, respectively.

Marchant was fourth in the 100-fly with a time of 55.06 seconds.  AJ Broderick (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) was second in both the 200-breaststroke (2:16.20), and 400-individual medley (4:28.16).

Rois, Christiansen, Wade Piotrowski (Webster, NY/Webster Schroder), and Broderick were fifth in the 800-freestyle relay, swimming in 7:26.10. 

On Sunday, the 400-yard medley relay team of Nate Morefield (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley High School), AJ Broderick (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville), Ryan Brannan (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) and Jeff Kaemmerlen (Fairport, NY/Fairport) finished sixth with a time of 3:47.88.

Steve Rois (Amherst, NY/Amherst High School) finished third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:02.61.

In the 200-yard individual medley Broderick finished second with a time of 2:03.82.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Ryan Marchant (Norwich, NY/Norwich High School), Kevin Christiansen (Penfield, NY/Penfield), AJ Broderick (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) and Jeff Kaemmerlen (Fairport, NY/Fairport) finished second with a time of 3:16.15.

The Tigers are back in action on Saturday, at home, against the University of Rochester.  The meet starts at 1 p.m.
