Young named Empire 8 co-Player of the Week

Scott Young (Almond, NY/Hornell) of the RIT men's basketball team was named the Empire 8 co-Player of the Week on Monday for the week ending November 22, 2009. Earlier on Monday, Young was also named the RIT Male Athlete of the Week. It is Young's first Empire 8 weekly honor.
Young averaged 29.5 points and 6.5 rebounds, while hitting 15 3-pointers in two games over the weekend at the Cardinal Classic hosted by SUNY Plattsburgh. He shot 65.6 percent from the floor and was 65.2 percent from behind the three-point line. Young scored 22 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the floor on Friday versus Husson. He had six 3-pointers, four rebounds, two assists and a steal. He followed that up with a career-high 37 points in an overtime loss to Norwich on Sunday. He was 13-of-17 from the floor, including 9-of-13 from behind the arc. The nine made 3-pointers are a Tiger single game record. Young also led the Tigers with nine rebounds and added a block and a steal.
The Tigers will look for their first win of the 2009-10 season on Sunday, as they travel to play SUNY Cobleskill. Tip-off is at 2 p.m.
