Dietz earns CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District first team honors
Junior Bret Dietz was named a 2009 CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine All-District first team selection on Monday.

Bret Dietz (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt), of the RIT men’s soccer team was named to the 2009 CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District I Men’s Soccer Team on Monday. Selections are made based on a combination of academic and athletic excellence. Dietz, a civil engineering major, was a first team all-district selection with a 3.84 GPA. He was a second team all-district selection in 2008. Dietz will be eligible to earn Academic All-American honors later in the month.
Dietz, a two-year captain, has played in all 16 games this season, and has two goals and three assists for seven points. Last season, Dietz tallied 12 points on five goals and two assists. He has shown excellent leadership since his first year. As a freshman, he proved to be valuable in the back and midfield, starting in all 18 games. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the Allegheny Tournament.
RIT is 8-7-1 overall and finished third in the Empire 8 with a 5-2-0 mark. The Tigers travel to Hoboken, N.J. on Friday to play the No. 2 Ducks in an Empire 8 semifinal. If the Tigers win, they will play for the Empire 8 Championship on Sunday.
