ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT women's basketball team set or tied three school records Tuesday night as they defeated Hilbert College 97-32. The 97 points scored by the Tigers breaks the record for most points in a game which was set back in 2001. The Tigers scored 52 first-half points which ties a school record for points in a half, and allowed seven second-half points which broke the previous record of 10.

The Tigers led 52-25 at the half, thanks in large part to stifling defense. RIT's full-court pressure forced Hilbert into 23 first-half turnovers which led to 22 points for the Tigers. RIT closed out the half on a 28-7 run.

RIT dominated play in the second half, allowing just seven second-half points. The Hawks did not score their first basket until the 15:23 mark of the second half and scored just two points over the first 10:23 of the half. The seven points allowed by the Tigers set the school record for fewest points allowed in a half which was set back in 2006.

RIT shot 52.7% from the floor for the game on 39-of-74 shooting. Fifty-six of RIT's 97 points came from the painted area, while 26 of the Tiger's 39 buckets were assisted. RIT was 3-for-5 from behind the three-point line and 16-of-20 from the free throw line.

Freshman #Leslie Havens (Wayland, NY/Wayland-Cohocton)# led RIT with 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the floor. She also dished out two assists, had two steals in 12 minutes of action.

Anna Wapshare and #Alex Kelley (Rochester, NY/Brighton) each had 10 points for the Tigers. Sophomore (Fayetteville, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius)Sharon Dennis (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool)# had eight points, nine rebounds, two blocks, two steals and two assists, and senior #Danielle Furman (Coudersport, PA/Coudersport)# had nine points, two assists and two steals for the Tigers.

Freshman #Shelby Vakiener (Fairport, NY/Fairport)# came off the bench to score eight points, grab seven rebounds and dish out a team high five assists.

The 65-point margin of victory is also the largest in program history for the Tigers.

RIT returns to action on Saturday, November 21 when they host the third annual RIT Invitational. The Tigers face Cazenovia College in game one of the tournament at 1 p.m. in Clark Gymnasium. St. Lawrence will face SUNY Brockport in game two at 3 p.m.
