PITTSFORD, NY -- The RIT women's tennis team defeated Nazareth College 6-3 in Empire 8 action on Saturday afternoon. The win improves the Tigers to 5-3 overall and 4-1 in the Empire 8. The Tigers won four of six singles matches to seal the victory.
Junior
Amanda Berg (Mendham, NJ/Mendham) led the Tigers, winning at first singles and, teamed with
Alexis Stanley (Vestal, NY/Vestal), winning at first doubles. Berg defeated Jackeline Martinez in singles, 6-3, 6-2
Stanley defeated Alex Vizgaitis in second singles, 6-0, 7-5.
Lindsey Gibson (Glastonbury, CT/Mercy) was victorious in third singles, defeating Abbey Goings, 6-2, 7-5 and
Julie Burkett (McDonald, PA/West Allegheny) defeated Christine Cary 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 at sixth singles.
Berg and Stanley were victorious at first doubles, defeating Martinez and Way, 8-5.
Marie Revekant (Pittsford, NY/East Rochester) and
Julie Burkett (McDonald, PA/West Allegheny) were victorious at third doubles, winning 9-8 (8-6).
RIT will host Alfred UNiversity on Wednesday, October 7 at 4 pm on the RIT Courts.
