ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT women's tennis team placed four on the 2009 Empire 8 Women's Tennis All-Conference team.
Amanda Berg (Mendham, NJ/Mendham) and Alexis Stanely were first team selections.
Michele Caporali (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott) and
Julie Burkett (McDonald, PA/West Allegheny) were honorable mention selections. Caporali was also RIT's Sportswoman of the Year recipient.
Berg, the 2008 Empire 8 Women’s Tennis Player of the Year, repeated as a first-team selection after posting a 7-1 regular season conference mark at first singles. She went 14-4 on the season and is 29-7 in two years at RIT.
Berg and Stanley combined to post a 7-1 record in conference play at first doubles. The pair was 12-4 overall, including 11-2 in dual matches.
Burkett played primarily at fifth and sixth singles in 2009, posting an 8-7 overall record. The junior was 6-2 in Empire 8 singles competition and went 3-3 in E8 doubles competition.
Caporali was 5-3 in Empire 8 singles competition in 2009, playing primarily at second and third singles.
The Tigers finished the 2009 sewason with 7-6 overall record. RIT was 6-2 in Empire 8 competition and lost to Stevens in the semifinals of the Empire 8 Tournament.
