ROCHESTER, NY –
The RIT men's soccer team shut-out St. John Fisher (6-6-1, 2-3-0 Empire 8) by a score of 1-0 on Saturday at RIT Field, to secure its sixth straight overall win, and fifth in Empire 8 play. The win improves RIT's overall record to 8-6-1, and 5-1-0 in the Empire 8. The Tigers clinched an Empire 8 playoff berth and are currently tied for first place with conference rival Nazareth.

St. John Fisher outshot the Tigers 13-12 and had six corner kicks to the Tigers four. The Tigers committed 14 fouls to 12 for the Cardinals.

Dom Colaprete (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) scored the lone goal for the Tigers in the 29th minute. Jeff Diaz (Brentwood, NY/Brentwood) crossed the ball from outside the box, where a streaking Colaprete headed the ball into the back of the net. Chad Palumbo (East Aurora, NY/Iroquois) also assisted on the goal.  This marks Colaprete's seventh goal on the season. He now has a goal in each of the last five games, and game-winning tallies in three straight contests.

The defense for the Tigers was outstanding, helping goalkeeper Ben Frazier (Westminster, MD/Westminster) earn his sixth win of the season and his third shutout. Frazier needed to make just three saves. Goalkeeper Adam Durst made five saves in defeat for the Cardinals, who are fighting for the fourth and final playoff berth in the Empire 8.

The Tigers are back in action next Saturday, when they host conference rival Nazareth College, who is 9-4-2 overall, and 4-0-2 in the Empire 8. Both teams will be fighting for first place in the conference, which would mean home field advantage for the Empire 8 Playoffs on Nov. 6 and Nov. 8.
