ROCHESTER, NY -- Senior midfielder,
Jeff Diaz (Brentwood, NY/Brentwood) was named the Empire 8 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending October 11, 2009. Diaz helped RIT to a come-from-behind win at Utica last week.
Diaz set a career-high with four points with one goal and two assists as RIT defeated Utica 4-3 in overtime. He opened the scoring with a goal in the 38th minute and assisted on the game-tying goal in the 85th minute. Diaz's corner kick in the 103rd minute found
Bret Dietz (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt), who headed the ball home for the game-winner.
Diaz is tied for second on the team in scoring with a goal and three assists. His three assists is tied for the team lead.
RIT is 5-6-1 overall, 3-1-0 in the Empire 8 and have won three straight Empire 8 contests. The Tigers are in a tie with Nazareth for second place in the Empire 8 standings and will host Buffalo State College on Tuesday, October 13. Kick-off is at 4 pm on RIT Field.
