ROCHESTER, NY –
RIT Head Coach #Amy Reed# picked up her first collegiate coaching victory, as the Tigers (1-2) upended Morrisville State 61-52 on Sunday afternoon at the RIT Tip-Off Classic at Clark Gym.  SUNY Brockport opened the day by defeating Mt. Aloysius, 74-50.

The Tigers hard work paid off, as they forced 42 Morrisville turnovers and had 21 steals as a team, two off the school record.

Morrisville's Courtney Terzi gave Morrisville a 40-37 lead with 14:43 left.  From there, RIT scored the next 14 points and held Morrisville scoreless for more than eight minutes.  The RIT lead jumped to 51-40 with 7:46 left on a lay-up by freshman #Charley Scott-McGrail (Batavia, NY/Notre Dame)# (Batavia, NY/Notre Dame).

Scott-McGrail led RIT with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field.  Freshman guard #Audrey Mincey (Neptune, NJ/Neptune)# (Neptune, NJ/Neptune) chipped in with 14 points, four boards and three steals.  Fellow freshman #Sharon Dennis (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool)# (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) grabbed 10 boards, scored eight points, had seven steals and four blocked shots.  Junior guard #Danielle Furman (Coudersport, PA/Coudersport)# (Coudersport, NY/Coudersport) dished out seven assists.

Sydney Pajack led Morrisville (1-2) with 14 points.  Ebony Whitfield had 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Morrisville out-rebounded RIT, 47-32.  RIT shot 41.4 percent from the field, while Morrisville shot 39 percent.  RIT struggled from the free-throw line, shooting just 36 percent (9-for-25).

RIT started strong, jumping out to leads of 13-5 and 16-9 on the strength of strong shooting and excellent defense.  Morrisville's height and inside presence was evident later in the half, as they used a 10-3 run to go up 28-25 right before the end of the half.  #Kelly Votolato (Raynham, MA/Cranston East)# (Raynham, MA/Cranston East) drove the lane and fed Dennis who tallied right as time expired to end the half, making it 28-27 Morrisville.

Both teams struggled with turnovers over the opening 20 minutes of play, as Morrisville turned the ball over 19 times to 15 by RIT.  Mincey led the Tigers with seven first-half points.

Earlier in the afternoon, SUNY Brockport (2-0) used a big second half run to roll past Mt. Alyosius, 74-50.  Whitney Smith drained six 3-pointers en route to 22 points and eight boards.  Jen Buskus recorded a double-double with 11 assists to go along with 10 points.  Brenlyn Campbell also had a double-double scoring 13 points to go along with 13 boards.  Emily McKenna led Mt. Aloysius (0-2) with 12 points.  Kaylee Keagy had eight points and eight boards.

The Tigers return to action on Sunday, November 30, as they travel to play Hilbert in a non-conference contest starting at 2 p.m.
