ROCHESTER, NY - Freshman goalkeeper Ashley Valenti (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) (Honeoye, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) of the RIT women's soccer team was named the Empire 8 Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for the week ending October 5, 2008.  It is Valenti's second Empire 8 weekly honor this season.

Valenti played the second half of Wednesday's 2-0 win over Keuka, stopping one shot.  She then made seven saves in a 1-1 overtime tie at Utica on Saturday.  She allowed just one goal in 155 minutes of action during the week.  Valenti is now 2-0-1 with a 0.27 goals against average and .941 save percentage this season.

The Tigers are back in action on Tuesday, as they host nationally-ranked William Smith in a non-conference contest at 4 p.m.
