Women's Volleyball FInishes 3-2 at NYU Invitational; Werner Named to All-Tournament Team

NEW YORK, NY -
The RIT Women's Volleyball team (20-5) finished 2-1 in second day action at the NYU Invitational en route to winning three of five matches overall on the weekend, finishing third out of six teams.  In addition, senior Katie Werner (Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) (Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) was named to the All-Tournament Team.

On Saturday, the Tigers fell to #9 Elmhurst College by a score of 23-30, 25-30, 15-30.  In RIT's second match, they defeated Plymouth State 30-27, 30-20, 28-30, 30-13.  The Tigers defeated Emmanuel College 30-25, 30-27, 24-30, 30-15 to finish the weekend.

In the Elmhurst match, Bonnie Harriman (Danbury, CT/Danbury) (Danbury, CT/Danbury) led RIT with seven kills. Ceclila Enestrom (Medicine Hat, AB/McCoy) recorded 13 digs.

Versus Plymouth State,Christina Anabel (Apalachin, NY/Vestal) (Apalachin, NY/Vestal) slammed 22 kills to go along with 19 digs. Harriman ripped 17 kills and hit .421. Laura Grell (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) led RIT with 21 digs. The Tigers had 67 team assists in the win.

Enestrom led RIT with 14 digs in the Emmanuel match. Jessica Schaffer (Wellington, OH/Keystone) (Wellington, OH/Keystone) added 11 kills and eight digs. Harrimanrecorded 13 kills and 11 digs.

RIT is back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Empire 8 rival Nazareth to play the Golden Flyers at 7 p.m.
