ROCHESTER, NY -- Play began on Friday in the 2004 RIT Volleyball Invitational. RIT, Cortland, Nazareth and NYU all went 2-0 on Friday. Geneseo State, Rochester, Ithaca and St. John Fisher went 1-1 and Vassar, Buffalo State, Clarkson and Brockport were 0-2.
Play begins on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. in RIT's Clark Gymnasium.
In RIT's first match of the evening the Tigers were led by Laurie Underhill (East Aurora, NY/Mt. Mercy Academy) (E. Aurora, NY) who had 18 kills and 10 digs. Christina Anabel (Apalachin, NY/Vestal) (Apalachin, NY) added 12 kills and 14 digs, while Dani Fisher (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) (Pittsburgh, PA) added 10 kills and four blocks. Senior Sarah Ballard (Lake View, NY/Frontier) (Lake View, NY) had 43 assists and 12 digs.
Versus Vassar RIT was led by Christina Anabel (Apalachin, NY/Vestal) who had 11 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore middle blocker Michelle Skowzgird (Grayslake, IL/John Hersey) (Grayslake, IL) added seven kills. Ballard tallied 28 assists and dug six balls.
