OSWEGO, NY- The Tigers wrestling squad opened the post-holiday part of their schedule on January 3 at the New York-Pennsylvania Duals, hosted by SUNY Oswego. They tallied a win against Scranton, 33-18, but fell to King's College (PA) 28-19 and Lycoming College (PA) 30-15.
In the match against Scranton University, Jason Clinch (Durhamville, NY/Oneida) and Lee Comstock (Benson, PA/Benson) put points on the board for the Tigers, winning by forfeit, while Mike Pietrowski (Cobleskill, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville), Chad Sutliff (Linesville, PA/Linesville), Sean Dust (Verona, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherill), Micah Vore (Waterloo, IA/Hudson) and Adam Abdelhamed (Seacaucus, NJ/Seacaucus) recorded victories as well. Sutliff defeated Tim Grover 8-2 at 157 pounds and Dust pinned Donell Young in 0:36 in the 165-pound match. Vore pinned A.J. Caprio in 3:51 to take the 197-pound match. Pietrowski earned a decision against Tom Phillips in the 141-pound match.
In the match against King's College, Chad Sutliff (Linesville, PA/Linesville) pinned Shaun Canney in 1:28 to take the 157-pound match, and Mancini pinned Zach Dietrick in 5:11 to win the 174-pound match. Lee Comstock (Benson, PA/Benson) and Mike Pietrowski (Cobleskill, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) also earned decisions at 133 pounds and 141 pounds, respectively.
Against Lycoming, RIT earned wins from Comstock, Sutliff, Dust and David Bisers (Allison Park, PA/Hampton). Comstock earned a 1-0 decision against Kyle Hopkins at 133 pounds and Bisers (149 pounds) defeated Sean Reese 7-4. Sutliff pinned Ben Shull in 1:37 at 157 pounds and Sean Dust (Verona, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherill) defeated Heath Oberlin (165 pounds), 9-8.
RIT returns to the mats on Saturday for the Bud Whitehall Duals, hosted by Lycoming College.
