ONEONTA, NY -- The RIT wrestling team placed seventh at the 2003 Red Dragon Invitational hosted by Oneonta State on Saturday. The Tigers took seventh with a team score of 50.5 points.

Highlights for the Tigers included a second place finish by Amir Figueroa (New York, NY/Fordham Prep) at 133 pounds and a fourth place finish by Nate Garrels also at 133 pounds.

Figueroa, who was the second seed in his weight class, defeated Ken Kanara from Johns Hopkins, 7-3 in his opening match. He went on to beat Mike Catania of Hunter with a pinfall at 4:49. In the semifinals he downed #3 Sean Murphy from Oneonta State 10-7. His run ended in the finals when he lost to #1 Cliff Medina from Hunter 5-3.

Garrels lost to #1 Medina in the second round. He went on to beat Ken Kanara 19-6 in the consolation bracket and #3 Sean Murphy in the semifinals. In the third place match he lost to Jon Moyet from NYU 4-0.

Mike Pietrowski (Cobleskill, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) made it to the quartfinals at 141 pounds. He defeated Justin Gonsalves (WPI), in the second round and was defeated by #2 John Muscarella of Wilkes 5-2 in the quarterfinals.

Chad Sutliff () made the semifinals before losing to #1 Dustin Winn of Oneonats State 4-2 in the semis. Daid Bisers made it to the quarterfinals in the consolation bracket before losing to #5 Tim Simansky of Scranton.
