ROCHESTER, NY – A school record 13 members of the RIT wrestling team earned 2018-19 Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference All-Academic Team honors, as announced on Friday, March 29.

Colby Hall (Deposit, NY/Deposit),
Dempsey King (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford),
Joe Lupisella (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder),
Chris St. Denny (Bridgeport, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse), sophomores
Joey Monteleone (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa),
Morgan Seller (Lyons Falls, NY/South Lewis),
Zach Stedeford (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny),
Jakob Warner (Wayland, MA/Wayland) and freshmen
Chris Horton (Athens, PA/Athens Area),
Ian Houck (Cottekill, NY/Rondout Valley) and
Mike McGowan (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) were honored for RIT. Cutugno and King both earned their third ECWC All-Academic Team accolade, while Albanese, Hall and Warner are repeat honorees.
Recipients of this honor must have a 3.30 cumulative grade point average or higher (through the last eligible grading period of the current academic year) while completing an entire season as a member of a conference institution's wrestling team. Freshmen and transfers that have been enrolled full-time for at least one semester are eligible to receive this honor. A total of 60 wrestlers were honored as members of the ECWC All-Academic Team.
Earlier this month, RIT was one of 30 teams to be honored by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) with a Scholar Team accolade for their excellent work in the classroom in 2018-19. The Tigers had a cumulative grade-point average of 3.545 during the 2018-19 season, placing 16th in the nation among Division III schools and second among Empire College Wrestling Conference programs.
The Tigers enjoyed an incredible season in 2018-19, finishing with a program record 12 dual victories, while King,
Kaidon Winters (Athens, PA/Athens Area) and
Connor Calkins (Almond, NY/Alfred-Almond) earned All-American honors. King finished runner-up at 165 lbs. at the NCAA Championships.
