ALLENTOWN, PA – The RIT wrestling team competed at the non-scoring Futures Mideast Tournament hosted by Muhlenberg College on Sunday.
Ian Houck (Cottekill, NY/Rondout Valley) was RIT's top finisher, placing third overall at 157 lbs. after finishing 5-1 on the day. He started with a 5-0 win in his opening round match before falling in the quarterfinals. Houck went unbeaten the rest of the way, winning all four of his consolation matches, including a victory in the third place match by fall over teammate
Mike McGowan (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck). McGowan went 4-2 on the day to finish fourth.
Colby Hall (Deposit, NY/Deposit) went 3-2 on the day to finish fourth at 165 lbs., while
Alex Prunoske (Safety Harbor, FL/Clearwater Catholic) was fourth at 133 lbs. Other place winners included
Chris St. Denny (Bridgeport, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse), who was fifth at 285 lbs. and
Owen Albanese (Canastota, NY/Canastota), who placed sixth at 285 lbs.
Other winners on the day included
Shane Murphy (Mt. Olive, NJ/Mt. Olive) and Joey Brillo, both at 141 lbs.,
The Tigers return to action next weekend, Saturday, Feb. 23 and Sunday, Feb. 24 at the 2019 NCAA Mideast Regional from The College at Brockport. The top three wrestlers in each weight class advance to the 2019 NCAA Division III Championships.
