ROCHESTER, NY - Senior forward
Erik Brown (Keene, Ontario/Kemptville 73's) of the RIT men's hockey team was named the NCAA Men's Hockey First Star and Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week on Tuesday, for the week ending Jan. 13, 2019. He was also named NCAA First Star of the Week on Feb. 20, 2018. Brown earned Atlantic Hockey weekly honors for the second time this season and fourth overall in his career.
Brown tallied five points on three goals and two assists and became the 11th player in RIT's Division I history to reach 100 career points in a last weekend's sweep at Atlantic Hockey rival American International College. Friday, Brown tied a career-high with four points on two goals and two assists in a 6-3 win. He reached the 100-point plateau on a power-play goal early in the first period and added an empty-netter in the final minute. Saturday, he scored the game-winning power-play goal late in the second period in a 3-2 win.
Brown now has 10 goals and 17 points in 20 games this season and 62 goals and 41 assists for 103 points in his RIT career. He is RIT's all-time leading goal scorer in the Division I era.
RIT puts its five-game unbeaten streak on the line with a pair of road games at AHA foe Bentley University this weekend. Both Friday and Saturday's contest from brand-new Bentley Arena get underway at 7:05 p.m.
