Amy Reed is pleased to announce the 2018-19 regular season schedule. RIT will play 18 Liberty League games, and seven non-conference contests. The Tigers will play 10 home games, and face five teams that competed in the 2017 NCAA Division III Tournament in University of Rochester, The College of New Jersey, Skidmore College, Ithaca College and SUNY Geneseo.
"I am excited about our schedule this year and know our team is ready to accept the challenge of playing five teams that were in the 2018 NCAA Tournament," said Reed. "SUNY New Paltz, SUNY Geneseo, University of Rochester are all high-level teams, and we are looking forward to playing The College of New Jersey again after meeting them in the second round of the tournament this past year. Skidmore and Ithaca in our league both made the NCAA Tournament as well, and the Liberty League will be more competitive than ever this year."
RIT opens the 2018-19 season on the road versus at SUNY New Paltz on Nov. 9. The Tigers' home opener will be on Nov. 13 versus cross-town rival and perennial powerhouse University of Rochester. These two teams played a pair of highly competitive games last season, including a matchup in last year's NCAA Tournament in the Round of 16. The Tigers hit the road to face The College of New Jersey Nov. 16, and play at The College at Brockport on Nov. 20
RIT begins play in the Liberty League with a pair of home games versus Bard College (Nov. 30) and at Union College (Dec. 1).
Dec. 6 and Dec. 8, RIT will compete in the Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout with a game at Nazareth College on Dec. 6, and versus St. John Fisher (Dec. 8).
After the New Year, the Tigers play 17 of their final 18 games versus conference opponents. RIT returns to league play with a pair of road games at William Smith (Jan. 4) and at Rensselaer (Jan. 5). The Tigers host Vassar College Feb. 8 and Skidmore Feb. 9 before closing out the regular season on the road at Union on Feb. 15 and Bard the following day.
Six teams qualify for play in the Liberty League Tournament. The Liberty League quarterfinal will take place on Feb. 18, while the semifinals will be played on Feb. 23 with the title game taking place on Feb. 24. The Liberty League Champion earns the automatic berth into the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship.
RIT won a school-record 23 games in 2017-18, earning its first NCAA Tournament victories, while advancing to the Round of 16 for the first time in program history.
