ROCHESTER, NY – Senior forward
Erik Brown (Keene, Ontario/Kemptville 73's) and sophomore goaltender
Logan Drackett (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Canucks) garnered Atlantic Hockey Association weekly honors on Tuesday, for the week ending Oct. 21, 2018. Brown was named AHA Offensive Player of the Week, while Drackett was named Goaltender of the Week.
Brown set a Division I team record with his third career hat-trick and tied the DI school mark for career goals, lighting the lamp three times in RIT's 6-1 win over Colgate in front of 10,556 fans at Blue Cross Arena as part of Brick City Homecoming & Family Weekend Saturday evening. Brown scored a goal in all three periods, giving RIT a 1-0 lead in the first, making it 5-0 late in the second and scoring late in the third period on the power-play.
Brown now has 32 goals in his last 40 games dating back to the start of last season. It is his first weekly honor of the season and third of his collegiate career. Brown's 55 career goals tie Simon Lambert and Tyler Brenner for RIT's record at the Division I level.
Drackett tied his career high with 41 saves on 42 shots in Saturday's 6-1 win over Colgate in front of a sellout crowd of 10,556 fans as RIT celebrated Brick City Homecoming & Family Weekend. Drackett was especially sharp in the second period, stopping 19 shots as Colgate had two long 5-on-3 power-plays that RIT was able to kill off. He has played in all three games this season for the Tigers and has a 2.34 goals against average and a .933 save percentage. It is Drackett's first weekly honor of the season and third of his career.
RIT is right back in action this weekend, opening up league play with a pair of road games at Robert Morris University. Both Friday and Saturday's contests from Colonials Arena get underway at 7:05 p.m.
