ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT women's hockey team celebrates Brick City & Homecoming Family Weekend with a pair of home contests against Union College from the Gene Polisseni Center on Friday, Oct. 19 and Saturday, Oct. 20. Friday's game begins at 5 p.m., while Saturday's contest gets underway at 12 p.m.
Tickets are $5 for adults, and $3 for youth. Admission is free for all RIT faculty, staff, alumni and students (one ticket per valid ID). Tickets are available at the Gene Polisseni Center and Gordon Field House Box Offices, by calling (585) 475-4121 or by visiting
www.rittickets.com. There will be a free schedule poster giveaway for both games.
The Tigers (1-2-1) look to get back in the win column after a pair of losses at St. Cloud State on Oct. 5-6.
Kendall Cornine (Kinnelon, NJ/Morristown Beard) scored three goals and added an assist in the weekend series to earn College Hockey America Player of the Week honors. She leads the team in scoring with six points on four goals and two assists in six games this season, while surpassing the 30-goal and 50-point plateau for her collegiate career.
Ellie Larson (Hutchinson, MN/Hutchinson Tigers) and
Mallory Rushton (Amherst, Nova Scotia/New Hampton Prep) are both tied for second on the team in scoring with three points apiece. In addition, RIT's power-play is clicking at a 23.5 percent rate.
Goaltender
Terra Lanteigne (Hatchet Lake, Nova Scotia/Charles P. Allen) has played in all four games this season for the Tigers and has a 2.23 goals against average and a .928 save percentage. She made a season-high 44 saves in her last outing against St. Cloud State on Oct. 6.
Union (1-5-0) is back in action after dropping a pair of home contests against Penn State last weekend. Haley Shugart, Arianna Kosakowski and Rachel de Perio are tied for the team lead with three points apiece. In goal, sophomore Amelia Murray and Coco Francis have split time. Murray has Union's lone win to go along with a 2.35 goals against average and a .933 save percentage.
RIT leads the all-time series between the two schools, 10-5-2. Last season, the two teams skated to a 3-3 tie and Union defeated RIT, 2-1 at Messa Rink in Schenectady.
Tori Haywood (Pickering, Ontario/St. Mary's Catholic),
Brittney Gout (Caledon, Ontario/Brampton Canadettes) and
Stella Haberman (Golden Valley, MN/Minnesota Whitecaps) scored in the 3-3 tie, while Cornine scored RIT's lone goal in the 2-1 loss.
