LAKE QUNISIGAMOND, WORCESTER, MA – The men's crew team competed Sunday, May 8 in the ECAC National Invitational Rowing Championships in Worcester, Mass. The second varsity 8 advanced to the grand final and posted the best finish of the day for the Tigers.

As Marist caught a grab approaching the line, the Tigers surged to secure second and earned a lane in the grand final. The Tigers time of 6:24.359 in the grands earned them a sixth place finish behind first place Williams (6:06.461).

“We were optimistic we had the speed to possibly come away with a medal today, but I was still very pleased with how our crews represented the program,” said Coach
Jim Bodenstedt. “All three boats worked hard throughout the season and committed to bringing more boat speed from practice to practice. I'm already looking forward to next year and continuing to develop technically the great group of athletes we have returning.”
Five oarsmen concluded their collegiate rowing careers for the Tigers this year: fourth year Mechanical Engineering major
Bryan Abbott (Simsbury, CT/Simsbury);
Paul Fisher (Wyoming, OH/Wyoming), a fourth year Software Engineering major; fourth year co-captain and Political Science major Dan Knorr;
Pat Shand (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet), a fourth year Biochemistry major; and co-captain
Jon Shannon (Lunenburg, MA/Lunenburg), a fifth year Mechanical Engineering major.
Closing out the sprint season, the Tigers look to assert themselves as a perennial powerhouse in the Liberty League as RIT enters the league this fall.
