Former Tiger Signs With Rochester Knighthawks Lacrosse Team

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Rochester Knighthawks General Manager Jody Gage announced today the signing of former Rochester Institute of Technology forward Shawn Wilkins.

With the Tigers' lacrosse team, he ranks 10th on school’s all-time scoring list with 104 goals and 43 assists for 147 points. The 5-7, 165-pound forward was a 2001 preseason All-American, and was second team All-Conference in 1999 and 2001. In 1997, he collected Super Six Rookie of the Year honors.

The two-sport athlete also played four seasons for the RIT hockey program. In his career, the defenseman registered 12 goals and 26 assists for 38 points. Last season, Wilkins collected 15 points (6+9) and was a plus-29. He was a member of Division III college hockey’s No. 1 penalty-killing unit. His finest offensive season was in 2000-01, when he registered 17 points (4+13) in 26 games.

The Burlington, Ontario, native was drafted by the Knighthawks in the second round (23rd overall) in the 2001 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft.

The Rochester Knighthawks open mini-camp on Saturday, Nov. 2nd at the Total Sports Experience in Gates. Day One of camp runs from 10:00 p.m. to midnight. The Knighthawks hit the floor the following morning from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Both sessions are free and open to the public. Players are available for autographs following Day Two of camp. The media is also encouraged to attend.

Rochester opens the 2002-03 season at home on Saturday, Dec. 28th at 7:35 p.m. against the New Jersey Storm. Tickets are available by calling (585) 454-5335. Last season, the K-Hawks finished second in the Central Division with a 13-3 record.
