MEDFORD, MA – Curtis Geiger (Allentown, PA/Emmaus) broke a school record in the 200-meter dash, as a small group of RIT men's track and field student-athletes competed at the Tufts Final Qualifying Meet on Saturday afternoon.
Geiger was fourth in the 200-meter dash, finishing with a time of 22.71 seconds, breaking his own school mark of 22.72 seconds set earlier this season.
James Bailey (Danvers, MA/Danvers) was sixth overall in the 5,000-meters with a time of 15:15.96.
Matthew Lienhard (Allentown, PA/Allentown Catholic) was 10th overall in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash in 7.22 seconds.
Nick Ng (Wayland, MA/Wayland) earned a ninth place finish in the long jump with a leap of 6.36 meters, while
Jake Saxton (Merrimack, NH/Bishop Brady) (13.70 meters) and
Zach Darling (Rome, PA/Northeast Bradford) (13.55 meters) were sixth and eighth in the shot put. Both Saxton and Darling competed in the weight throw as well, finishing 10th and 11th, respectively.
RIT will await possible NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship announcements. The 2017 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship takes place on Friday, March 10 and Saturday March 11 at the Res Recreation Center in Naperville, IL.
