ROCHESTER, NY - Junior defender Emily Shoemaker (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) of the RIT women's soccer team was named the Liberty League Women's Soccer Defensive Performer of the Week for the week ending Sept. 6, 2015. It is the first weekly honor for Shoemaker this season, and first of her career.

Shoemaker helped the Tigers to a 2-0-1 record last week, including a 1-1 tie at No. 16 Nazareth College and shut out wins over Allegheny and Emmanuel. She played all 300 minutes for RIT, anchoring a Tigers defense that allowed just one goal in the season opener on Tuesday. She played 180 minutes and led a defensive unit that did not concede a goal in a pair of wins for RIT in the 2015 Rachel Miller Memorial Tournament.
