ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT women's basketball team was the latest program to participate in the Chillin4Charity Cold Water Challenge in support of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Head Coach Amy Reed participated by having a bucket of ice water dumped over her head on Friday, July 25. Reed was challenged by Elmira College head coach Shannon Howley.

RIT is the most recent participant in the Chillin4Charity Cold Water Challenge, which was initiated by Niya Butts, head women's basketball coach at the University of Arizona.  Proceeds of the cold water challenge benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, an organization created to remember and honor late North Carolina State women's basketball coach Kay Yow, who died of breast cancer in 2009.

Reed extended the cold water challenge to fellow Liberty League coaches Dan Roiger and his staff at St. Lawrence University as well as Union College head coach Mary Ellen Burt and her staff.

If the coaches accept the challenge, the coach who made the challenge will donate $50 towards the Kay Yow Foundation. If a coach does not accept the challenge, they must donate $250 to the foundation.
