ROCHESTER, NY -
Senior jumper Marquis Moore (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) of the RIT men's track and field team represented RIT at the 2013 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday, May 23. The NCAA Championships, held at Roger Herring Stadium at Memorial Field Sports Complex, were hosted by Wisconsin-La Crosse. Moore competed but did not record a qualifying leap in the long jump at the championships, fouling in all three of his jump attempts. Issac Vazquez of the hosts won the event with a top leap of 7.74 meters.

Earlier in the season, Moore qualified for the long jump, posting the sixth farthest leap in Division III at 7.31 meters, at the Cardinal Classic, hosted by St. John Fisher on April 27. That jump broke a 28-year old record previously held by John Rowles, set in 1985 (7.14 meters). Moore also holds the RIT indoor record in the triple jump (14.44 meters).

This was Moore's second trip to the NCAA Tournament, having also represented RIT by finishing 10th in the triple jump at the 2012 Indoor Championships. He was previously the 2012 and 2013 Liberty League Indoor Field Athlete of the Year, 2012 Liberty League Outdoor Field Athlete of the Meet, and 2013 NYSCTC Indoor Field Athlete of the Meet. Moore is a five-time Liberty League Athlete of the Week and five-time conference champion in the long and triple jumps.
