ROCHESTER, NY -- Five members of the RIT women's lacrosse team were named the 2011 Empire 8 Women's Lacrosse All-Conference Team on Monday. Sophomore #
Shelby Vakiener (Fairport, NY/Fairport)#, the 2010 Empire 8 Rookie of the Year, was s first team selection and was named conference player of the year.

Sarah Frisicano (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) and
Katelyn Crane (Palmyra, NY/Palmyra-Macedon)# were honorable mention selections, and #
Carly Augustyn (Spencerport, NY/Churchville-Chili)# was named RIT's representative as Sportsperson of the Year.
Vakiener led all scorers in Empire 8 play with 49 points on 33 goals and 16 assists. She added 27 ground balls, 31 draw controls, and caused 16 turnovers in eight games. Overall, she totaled 85 points on 57 goals and 28 assists, contributing 50 ground balls, 61 draw controls, and 24 caused turnovers. Her 57 goals this season is one shy from tying the school record. She set the record for points in a season and her 142 career points is fourth all-time at RIT.
Lampson tallied 32 points in eight conference games in 2011 on 23 goals and nine assists. The junior midfielder also grabbed 11 ground balls, had 16 draw controls, and caused six turnovers. Overall, she finished second on the team in scoring with 54 points on 40 goals and 14 points, all career highs.
Augustyn tallied 11 points in conference play on four goals and seven assists. She had eight ground balls, six draw controls, and caused two turnovers. Overall, Augustyn tallied 16 points on the season on seven goals and nine assists.
Frisicano helped the Tigers defense in holding its opponents to 11.71 goals per game in eight conference games. She had 14 ground balls, caused nine turnovers, and had two draw controls. She started all 17 games in 2011 and had 28 ground balls, four draw control, and 21 caused turnovers.
Crane posted a 4-3 record in conference play with an 11.68 goals against average and .471 save percentage.
The Tigers finished the season with a 6-11 overall record and were fourth in the Empire 8 conference with a 5-3 record. RIT lost to Stevens 15-6 in the Empire 8 Conference semifinals.
