ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Jessica Schaffer (Wellington, OH/Keystone) of the women's volleyball team, was named the Empire 8 Women's Volleyball Player on Tuesday, for the Week ending September 5, 2010.

Schaffer, playing in her first competitive matches since the 2007 season, was named to the Hartwick/Holiday Inn All-Tournament Team after leading RIT to a 2-2 mark and a third-place finish. She led the Tigers with 58 kills (4.1 per set) and 40 digs. On Sunday, Schaffer recorded 16 kills and 11 digs in a three-set victory over CCNY, and followed that with 19 kills and 11 digs in a five-set loss to Clarkson. She is seventh all-time at the school with 1,343 kills.

The Tigers are back in action at the St. Lawrence Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
