Dempsey, Kurvach, and Moulin garner USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors
ROCHESTER, NY - Juniors #Michael Dempsey# and #Brecht Moulin, along with sophomore #Mike Kurvach# of the RIT men's track and field team earned 2010 United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Track and Field honors on Monday.

ROCHESTER, NY - Juniors Michael Dempsey and Brecht Moulin, along with sophomore (Scarborough, ME/Scarborough)Mike Kurvach# of the RIT men's track and field team earned 2010 United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Track and Field honors on Monday.

In order to qualify for the prestigious individual honor, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 and met the NCAA Division III Indoor or Outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard in their respective event.

Dempsey, the 2010 USTFCCCA Atlantic Region Field Athlete of the Year, was the national runner-up and earned All-American honors in the pole vault at both the 2010 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships.  At the outdoor championahip, Dempsey broke his own school record for the fifth time this season and set a personal best with a leap of 5.16 meters.  Dempsey recorded a school record leap of 5.02 meters during the indoor season.

Moulin, who also earned Academic All-American honors in 2009, enjoyed an outstanding indoor season. Moulin set the school record in the 400-meter dash at the Boston University Valentine Invitational with a time of 48.94 seconds. Moulin led the sprint events consistently throughout the season, placing near the top in all of the events he raced in.  Moulin was named Empire 8 Athlete of the Week two weeks in a row.

Kurvach enjoyed an excellent year for the Tigers, earning All-Empire 8 first team honors during the outdoor championships.  Kurvach dominated the 3,000-meter steeplechase field as he won with an ECAC qualifying time of 9:38.17, nearly 17 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
