ONEONTA, NY -- The RIT women's lacrosse team finished the regular season with a 17-3 win over Hartwick College on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers finish the regular season with an 11-4 overall record and 6-2 in the Empire 8.
RIT finishes in a tie for third with Nazareth in the Empire 8 standings, but will have the third seed in the upcoming Empire 8 Tournament based on the win over Nazareth earlier in the season.
The Tigers opened the game on Sunday scoring the first six goals and led 9-1 at the half.
Danielle Previ (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) had three goals in the first half to pace a potent Tigers offense.
Rebecca Lampson (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Academy) had a pair of first-half goals and
Eileen Hennigan (Liverpool, NY/Christian Brothers Academy) had a goal and an assist.
Freshman
Shelby Vakiener (Fairport, NY/Fairport) scored five of her career-high six goals in the second half.
Allyson Pisher (Holley, NY/Holley) and Lampson each had a goal and an assist in the second half for RIT.
RIT out shot Hartwick 42-11 and grabbed 33 ground balls. The Tigers went 3-for-6 on free position attempts and were 12-of-16 on clearing attempts.
Freshman
Katelyn Crane (Palmyra, NY/Palmyra-Macedon) picked up her tenth win of the season making four saves.
RIT will face Stevens in the Empire 8 tournament semifinals on Saturday, April 8 at 2 pm in Ithaca, New York. The winner will face the winner between top-seed Ithaca and Nazareth in the championship game on Sunday, April 9 at noon.
