Women's lacrosse wins second straight; beats Guilford

GREENSBORO, NC -- The RIT women's lacrosse team won their second game in as many days defeating Guilford College 19-13 on Wednesday afternoon. Senior Danielle Previ (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) led RIT with six goals.

The Tigers out shot Guilford 47-23. RIT cleared the ball 16-of-17 times and won 17 draw controls. The Tigers committed just 12 turnovers and grabbed 25 ground balls.

Previ had six goals. Senior Ashley Pezze (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland) had three goals and two assists and Allyson Pisher (Holley, NY/Holley) had four goals and an assist. Shelby Vakiener (Fairport, NY/Fairport) had four points on the day with three goals and an assist, and Rebecca Lampson (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Academy) had two goals and an assist. Lampson also had a team-best five ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Elizabethh Cardella got the start in goal picking up her first win of the season. She played 35:48 allowing nine goals and making two saves. Katelyn Crane (Palmyra, NY/Palmyra-Macedon) played the final 24:12 allowing four goals and making three saves.

RIT scored 11 goals in the first half, including the first five to open the contest. The Tigers opened the game with a 7-1 run. Previ had three of her six goals in the first half while Vakiener, Pisher and Pezze each had two goals.

Previ added another three goals in the second half, Pisher had two second half goals as RIT out scored Guilford 8-6 in the second half.

RIT returns to action on Friday, March 12 at Buffalo State. Game time is at 4 pm in Buffalo New York.
