ORLANDO, FL - The RIT softball team (6-2) picked up a pair of wins on Wednesday afternoon at the Rebel Spring Games. The Tigers defeated Clarke in the opening game, 6-3, then upended Beloit in game two, 5-3.
In the opener, RIT scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth and three in the fifth to earn the win.
Emily Courtney (Berlin, CT/Kingswood-Oxford) was 3-for-3.
Jen Hayden (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) was 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Emily McPherson (Pompey, NY/Pompey) was also 1-for-4 with an RBI.
MIchelle Tabisz (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch) was 2-for-3 with a walk.
Katie Fitzpatrick (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) was 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Carlissa Cole (Alden, NY/Alden) earned her third win of the season, allowing three earned runs, while striking out six batters in the complete game effort.
In game two, RIT scored two runs in the first and second innings to earn the win.
On the mound,
Brittany Kemp (Dansville, NY/Wayland-Cohocton) picked up her third victory, allowing three runs in four innings. Cole earned her second save in three days, with three strikeouts in three scoreless innings.
Courtney was 2-for-3, while
Tori Nadow (Charlton, MA/Shepherd Hill) was 2-for-4.
Shannon McCormick (Auburn, NY/Auburn) was 1-for-3 with two walks, while McPherson was 1-for-4 with an RBI.
RIT concludes the Florida trip on Thursday. The Tigers play St. Benedict at 11 a.m. and York (Pa.) at 1 p.m,
