Dempsey named Empire 8 Track and Field Athlete of the Week
ROCHESTER, NY - Sophomore pole vaulter #Michael Dempsey# of the RIT men's track and field team was named the Empire 8 Track and Field Athlete of the Week on Monday for the week ending March 14, 2010.

ROCHESTER, NY - Sophomore pole vaulter Michael Dempsey of the RIT men's track and field team was named the Empire 8 Track and Field Athlete of the Week on Monday for the week ending March 14, 2010.
Last weekend, Dempsey earned national runner-up honors in the pole vault at 2010 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by DePauw University. He recorded a leap of 5.02 meters, tying is own school record last week at the ECAC Championships. Jake Winder of North Central College won the event with a leap of 5.12 meters. Dempsey became RIT's 10th indoor All-American and first in the pole vault.
