CANTON, NY – The RIT women's track and field team had a good showing as theyplaced fifth out of 12 schools at the St. Lawrence Invitational on Saturday. RIT's 4 x 200-meter relay team picked up the squad's lone win of the day.
The team of
Abby Arday (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder),
Caitlyn Peterson (Ontario, NY/Wayne),
Jillian Putney (Dansville, NY/Dansville), and
Samantha Mitchell (Southlake, TX/Carroll) were victorious in a time of 1:49.56.
Junior
Arielle Januszkiewicz (Amherst, NY/Amherst) and sophomore
Kate Dubuisson (Winston-Salem, NC/Mount Tabor) enjoyed excellent individual performances.
Januskiewicz finished second in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 11:12.39 and Dubuisson picked up a second place finish in the 1000-meter run (3:16.22).
Jamie Morey (LeRoy, NY/Notre Dame) was fourth in the weight throw with an ECAC qualifying toss of 14.50 meters.
Courtney Saunders (Canyon Country, CA/Canyon) was fourth in thr shot-put with a toss of 11.71 meters.
Mitchell was fourth in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.47 seconds.
The Tigers return to action on January 31, as they compete in the Empire 8 Championships, which will be held at the Gordon Field House on the campus of RIT.
