ROCHESTER, NY - Junior #John Traver (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa)# (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) of the RIT men's tennis team was named the Empire 8 Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Monday for the week ending April 12, 2009.  It is Traver's first weekly honor this season.

Traver won three conference matches in singles and doubles to lead RIT to three victories last week.  On Tuesday, Traver posted a 6-0, 6-1 win at second singles against St. John Fisher.  He posted a 6-3, 6-0 first singles win over Utica on Friday and followed that with a 6-1, 6-2 second singles win against Alfred on Saturday.  Traver teamed with Adam Wolf (South Euclid, Ohio/Brush) to record three doubles victories.  He is now 5-4 in singles and 6-3 in doubles this season.

RIT (6-3, 4-2 Empire 8) has won five straight matches and is back in action on Tuesday at home against Nazareth.  The match begins at 4 p.m.
