ROCHESTER, N.Y. - RIT women's hockey goaltender
#Sandra Grant (Abbotsford, British Columbia/Pacific Steelers)# (Abbotsford, British Columbia/Pacific Steelers) garnered a slew of weekly awards after her tremendous efforts in a weekend of competition against nationally-ranked schools. Grant was named RIT's Athlete of the Week for the week of February 9, her second of the season. She also garnered ECAC Goalie of the Week honors and was the Rochester Area Colleges Athletics Female Athlete of the Week.
Grant stopped 60-of-63 shots (.952 save percentage) in leading RIT to back-to-back wins over #6 Amherst and #3 Middlebury on Saturday and Sunday. Grant made 30 saves in a 4-1 win over Amherst on Saturday. On Sunday, Grant stopped 30 shots, including a tremendous glove save on Middlebury's Grace Waters with 1:55 left in regulation to preserve a 3-2 lead. She was named the game's first star in both contests. Grant is 12-2-2 with a 1.96 goals against average and .922 save percentage this season.
