ROCHESTER, NY – Dave Warth, now in his 12th season as head coach of the RIT men's cross country team, was named Empire 8 Coach of the Year on Oct. 31. This marks Warth's second time receiving Coach of the Year honors. In 2005, Warth also received the Atlantic Region Indoor Track Women's Coach of the Year Award.

Under his guidance, he has led his teams to successful seasons, including trips to the NCAA's in 2007 and 2009. In addition, he has coached several All-Americans, including Steven Burns, Mike Hardbarger (Parkersburg, WV/Ritchie County), and Jared Burdick (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius). He has also led the RIT women's and men's track and field teams to Empire 8 and New York State Championships.

This season, Warth coached the men's cross country team to a first-place finish in the Empire 8, and a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Tournament. Eight members of the team earned Empire 8 All Conference honors.
